Design Junction 2013
Another great show for Vitamin at Design Junction 2013! The raw, untouched setting of the old sorting office on New Oxford Street was the perfect platform to display our new products for the first time at Design Junction. This included the three new arrivals to our lighting selection as well as our new additions to the Element Vessel series.
Design Junction has become a must-see event in London Design week and it did not disappoint. Over 150 different brands took part this year with a wide range of different products on show.
The clean, uncluttered layout of the show allowed the visitors to wonder freely between stands and gave them a chance to take in the wonderful industrial setting. Vitamin’s products were spread over the unique building. In addition to a stand on the first floor, the Knot Lamps were presented at both Clippings , part online home store, part design magazine, and Morgan Furniture , an exciting UK furniture brand/producer.
Our space consisted of a clean, monolith grey plinth, which was lifted from the factory floor with a crafted ash frame. Upon this plinth we featured our new Element Vessels, both the new Terracotta and Earthenware editions. Alongside these we also exhibited the Limited Edition Element Vessels which have recently been nominated for the Elle Decoration ‘Best of British’ award. Above the Vessels hung our lighting collection. This year we featured our ever popular Knot Lamps as well as our Tied-Up Pendant Lamps, Cloak and Hooked Lamps (Displayed Below).
Tied-Up Pendant Lamp
Tied-Up is a self-assembled pendant lamp which cleverly utilises the prime functions of an industrial cable-tie. 26 of these cable ties are cleverly locked into position by a combination of turned wood and spun metal components at the top and a steel cog at the base. The difference in diameter at the two ends of the pendant gives the cables a beautiful, natural curve, designed to accentuate the radiant large bulb nestled inside. The flowing frame of the Tied-Up Pendant Lamp caters for group and individual lighting arrangements for the home, as well as more public and commercial environments.
Cloak Pendent Lamp
The Cloak Pendent Lamp uses a premium glass dome to encase a beautifully crafted wooden sphere. The natural beauty of the oak and walnut globes are enhanced by the thick layer of glass draped over them, whilst the glass itself seems to hover weightlessly over the wooden form. The LED spotlight sat within the sphere omits an elegantly powerful yet dispersed glow, making these lights both beautiful and incredibly effective.
Hooked Pendant Lamp
The Hooked Pendant Lamp consists of a seductively tinted hand blown glass shade, enveloped around a conical wire frame. The central wire frame comprises of a hooked foot, which supports the shade and ascends up through the product to meet the fabric flex. The combination of the jet black wire cage and smoked-grey glass – give the pendant a premium and refined aesthetic, making this product perfect for both domestic and retail applications.
